Nau mai anō Rob – One New Zealand appoints Māori Engagement Lead

Rob Selwyn rejoins One New Zealand as Pou Hononga

One New Zealand is welcoming Rob Selwyn back to the whānau as Māori Engagement Lead, Pou Hononga, to lead the company’s Whārikihia strategy and support commitments made within its Te Tiriti o Waitangi policy.

Head of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs, Nicky Preston explains: “We’re so pleased to have Rob back in the One New Zealand whānau, now leading our Māori engagement and strategy.

“Our Sustainability Kaupapa includes the values of kaitiakitanga, manaakitanga, and kotahitanga, and has a goal of upholding our commitments to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We want to continue building more long-term relationships with iwi, hapū and Māori katoa, and supporting te ao Māori.”

Rob is rejoining after spending eight years at One New Zealand (and as Vodafone NZ before the rebrand), previously as Service Delivery Manager and Team Lead, playing a large role within the internal Māori employee network – formerly Te Ha Whero, and now more recently called Ngā Kākano.

He (Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, Whakatōhea) says: “After experiencing the success of introducing Māori concepts such as whakawhanaungatanga and mana into the corporate domain, I am passionate about the positive impact that the One NZ Sustainability Kaupapa and the collective changes being made in Aotearoa will have on te taiao.”

Inspired by the traditional whāriki (woven mat), our Māori strategy Whārikihia was first introduced in 2020 and represents the collaborative effort of weaving various strands together – relationships, knowledge and resources – to build a solid foundation for shared success.

The One New Zealand ‘Honouring the principles of Te Tīriti o Waitangi’ policy was also first introduced in 2020 and is available here.
