Two significant TaaS contract wins for Vodafone Ready Government

MEDIA RELEASE - Vodafone has been selected to deliver telecommunications services to two major government agencies – the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

MBIE will adopt connectivity (mobile, PTSN and network) and unified communications, and both agencies will adopt Vodafone’s cloud-based contact centre solution, powered by Genesys.

Ministry of Justice Acting Chief Executive Audrey Sonerson said the new contact centre service will provide a consistent, stable, and up-to-date ‘front door’ for the Ministry’s operational services team.

“Partnering with Vodafone to establish an ‘All of Government -Telecommunications as a Service’ (TaaS) solution means we can focus on establishing services that our customers want, rather than owning, operating and maintaining our own in-house technology solutions. We’re pleased that the new service allows us to establish better quality services for less; supporting us to deliver great service to our customers every day,” Audrey said.

Vodafone was selected as an official supplier of telecommunications services to the Government TaaS panel in November 2015.

Ken Tunnicliffe, Vodafone’s Enterprise Director, said the government’s TaaS initiative is driving an exciting digital transformation across the public sector.

“TaaS is allowing agencies and departments to move away from an expensive capital expenditure model, towards a more flexible ‘as a service’ model – where the onus is on companies like Vodafone to deliver great services on a per user basis,” said Ken.

“We look forward to helping more agencies and departments adapt to the TaaS framework, so they can better serve their communities in today’s digital environment,” he said.

Vodafone is a member of the TaaS panel which is administered by the Government Chief Information Officer at the Department of Internal Affairs, and reflects the goals of the Government ICT Strategy and Action Plan.
