To strengthen our commitment to creating a better-connected Aotearoa, One New Zealand is pleased to sign up as a Foundation Partner of Technology Queenstown (TQ).
This new initiative is setting the strategy to build NZ$1bn in annual tech sector GDP by 2043, while preserving the awesome lifestyle for those living in the Queenstown Lakes District.
Jodie King, Chief People Officer, says: “Queenstown is an incredible place to live and work. There is so much potential to build a world-class, dynamic tech scene to boost long-term growth and productivity – building on really solid foundations and digital infrastructure.
“We are delighted to sign up as a Foundation Partner and join many other great Kiwi organisations to help to create a thriving niche tech ecosystem in the Queenstown greater area. When we launched 5G, Queenstown was one of the first cities to benefit, and we’re pleased to build on our history of innovation in the District by supporting TQ.
One NZ joins other Foundation Partners including the University of Otago, Accenture, Queenstown Resort College, SBS Bank, NZTE, North Ridge Partners, Russell McVeagh and Genesis Energy.
Roger Sharp, Founder of TQ, adds: “We are delighted to have One NZ join TQ, as their ambition for New Zealand is very strongly aligned with our vision to create long-term sustainable growth in Queenstown.
“We have identified cyber security as one of the high priority verticals that we are testing our ability to launch in Queenstown Lakes. One NZ’s capabilities in this area will be invaluable as we evaluate the feasibility of setting up a training centre for cyber security skills, as a precursor to building an industry cluster.”
Jodie adds: “Alongside our partner DEFEND, we have extensive expertise in cybersecurity and are looking forward to supporting TQ as it investigates the feasibility of this particular industry cluster.”
