If you’ve looked at buying a new phone lately, you’ve probably noticed how expensive they’ve become. It’s not unusual to see prices well over $1,500 - which can make upgrading feel like a big decision. At One NZ, we see a lot of people asking the same question: how do I get a great phone without overpaying for it?
The answer isn’t just about finding a cheaper deal. It’s about changing how you approach upgrading.
Most people replace their phone every few years. And each time, it often feels like starting from scratch - choosing a new device and figuring out how to pay for the full cost all over again. That cycle is what makes phones feel expensive.
But what if you didn’t have to start from zero every time?
At One NZ, we’ve introduced Phone Dollars - a way to earn on eligible plans that you can use towards your next interest-free phone.
You stay on your pay monthly plan as normal, and over time you build up Phone Dollars. When you’re ready to upgrade your phone, you can use them to reduce the cost of your new interest-free phone.
When you apply Phone Dollars to your next interest-free phone, the amount you need to pay goes down.
That could mean:
- Less upfront
- Smaller repayments
- Or the ability to choose a better phone for the same budget
If you’re trying to get the best phone for the lowest price, it’s not just about waiting for a sale. Real value comes from reducing what you pay before you upgrade your phone.
That’s what Phone Dollars are designed to do - helping you build value over time, so your next interest-free phone costs less when you’re ready for it.
