The countdown is officially on: One New Zealand stadium in Christchurch taking shape

As anticipation builds for the opening of One New Zealand Stadium in Christchurch, the final touches are coming together - and behind the scenes, a symbol of what’s to come is being brought to life.

In partnership with RD Group, the bold new One New Zealand Stadium signage is being carefully fabricated, assembled and installed.

From the arrival of oversized steel structures to the precision-crafted illuminated lettering in the workshop, the scale and craftsmanship behind the build reflect the significance of the moment.

Curved steel trusses have been transported and lifted into position, forming the architectural backbone that will carry the stadium’s name.

Inside the production facility, each letter of the One NZ Stadium wordmark has been engineered, ready to shine when the doors officially open.

This isn’t simply signage - it’s the physical expression of a new era.

“There’s something special about seeing the One New Zealand Stadium name come together at this scale,” says Bridgette Walker, Sponsorship Manager, One NZ. “It represents connection, shared experiences and the incredible events that will soon unfold here.”

RD Group has combined structural engineering expertise with meticulous attention to detail to ensure the signage is both visually striking and built to endure.

“Every component has been carefully designed and tested,” says Ross McLennan, Project Director, RD Group. “When fans and visitors arrive at One New Zealand Stadium in Christchurch and see the name illuminated, we want it to feel iconic - something that belongs proudly to Aotearoa.”

The behind-the-scenes build tells a story of collaboration - cranes carefully lifting steel into place, technicians fine-tuning LED panels, teams aligning each element to perfection. These are the moments that happen before the crowds arrive, before the cheers echo through the stands.

When it opens, One New Zealand Stadium will be more than a venue. It will be a gathering place - for sport, music, culture and community - connecting thousands of people in shared experience.

And now, as the name rises into position and the finishing touches are applied, one thing is clear: the countdown to One New Zealand Stadium has truly begun.
