A cold email, a couple of beers… and a pretty great partnership

JP & BTB

Sometimes the best partnerships don’t start in a boardroom. They start in an inbox. In this case, it was a cold email. One that could’ve easily been missed. Or parked for later. Or politely declined. Instead, it turned into something much more interesting.

We’re now the title sponsor of the Between Two Beers podcast.

If you’ve listened to Between Two Beers, you’ll know it’s not your typical podcast. It’s long-form, honest conversations with some of Aotearoa’s most interesting people-sports stars, business leaders, creatives, and the occasional wildcard. It’s built on curiosity. And a willingness to ask better questions. So, when the opportunity came through-yes, via that cold email-it felt like something worth leaning into.

Not because it was polished or perfectly packaged. But because it was real.

At One NZ, we’re always looking for ways to connect with people differently. Not louder. Not more often. Just better.

Between Two Beers has built something pretty special by doing exactly that-creating space for deeper conversations, longer stories, and moments you don’t usually get in a highlight reel.

That kind of storytelling sticks. And it aligns with how we think about our role: helping people connect, share, and be heard.

This isn’t about slapping a logo on a podcast and calling it a day. It’s about backing something we genuinely enjoy. Something our customers already listen to. Something that adds value to people’s time.

And yes-there’s something quite fitting about a brand that connects people, partnering with a podcast built on conversations.

You’ll start to hear us across upcoming episodes-woven into the show in a way that feels true to the Between Two Beers style. No hard sells. No awkward interruptions. Just a partnership that hopefully feels as natural to listeners as it did to us when we first read that email.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one message to start something good.
