One Wallet named finalist in the 2026 Asia Pacific Loyalty Awards

One New Zealand’s loyalty programme recognised for innovation and customer impact

One New Zealand’s loyalty programme, One Wallet, has been announced as a finalist in the “Best Overall Loyalty Program - Utilities & Telco” category at the 2026 Asia Pacific Loyalty Awards (APLAs), recognising leading loyalty programmes delivering innovation, measurable customer value and strong programme design across the region.

Launched in April 2024, One Wallet is a leading telco loyalty programme that allows any Kiwis — including non-customers — to earn Phone Dollars* in a digital wallet and redeem them toward their next interest-free phone upgrades. The programme is designed to meaningfully reduce the cost of one of New Zealand households’ biggest technology expenses, while strengthening long-term customer loyalty.

Kayne Munro, General Manager of Membership at One New Zealand, says the finalist recognition reflects the programme’s strong customer focus and early impact.

“We’re thrilled to be shortlisted alongside such a strong lineup of loyalty programmes across Asia Pacific. As a newer entrant, this recognition reinforces our ambition to make phone upgrades more affordable by rewarding customers in a simple, transparent way.”

With One Wallet, every Phone Dollar earned is a dollar saved on a customer’s next interest-free phone upgrade. When customers choose to redeem, they can apply their Phone Dollars toward an interest-free phone on an eligible One NZ Pay Monthly plan, while continuing to earn rewards over time.

One Wallet is also expanding through partnerships to deliver even greater everyday value. Most recently, One NZ partnered with dosh, a Kiwi-owned fintech innovator, enabling customers to earn Phone Dollars through everyday debit card spending** and home loans***. By extending rewards beyond telco services, One Wallet is building a broader loyalty ecosystem where the more customers earn, the less they pay for their next phone.

The Asia Pacific Loyalty Awards are run by the Australian Loyalty Association and celebrate excellence in loyalty across the region. Finalists are selected based on their ability to deliver meaningful customer outcomes, innovative programme design and demonstrable results. Finalists were publicly announced on 3 February, with winners to be revealed at the Asia Pacific Loyalty Awards Gala on 19 March.

There’s a tonne of hype around ultra-fast broadband (UFB). Many (myself included), are itching to get a taste of its extra capacity and speed. UFB became a very real prospect when Chorus signs popped up around my neighbourhood. The excitement was palpable. Soon men in fluoro vests were digging up streets. The neighbourhood was awash with anticipation. It didn't last. Chorus stopped laying fibre two houses either side of my place. Like other frustrated users, I won’t be able to add fibre to my online diet until 2018. It seemed that my own slice of gigabit goodness wasn’t meant to be. At least that was until Vodafone announced FibreX.
