One NZ lifts global sustainability benchmark score to 95.5

2026 GRESB score increase reflects mahi of past financial year

One New Zealand has continued to strengthen its sustainability performance, achieving a score of 95.5 out of 100 in the 2026 GRESB Infrastructure Assessment.

The result is up from 93 last year and continues a four-year streak of year-on-year improvement in One NZ’s GRESB score.

GRESB is a global sustainability benchmark for infrastructure assets. This year, One NZ achieved a perfect 60 out of 60 for the performance component of the assessment and ranked 22 out of 53 Data Transmission companies globally.

Nicky Preston, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs, says the result reflects the continued work happening across One NZ to embed sustainability into the business.

“Our Sustainability Kaupapa focuses on making meaningful progress across our three material ESG pillars of Greener Aotearoa, Thriving Communities and Trusted Partner. GRESB gives us an independent benchmark to understand how we’re tracking, and it’s encouraging to see our score continue to improve.

“Achieving 95.5 is a reflection of mahi right across One NZ – from how we manage energy and emissions, to the way we look after our people, engage with our communities and customers, and strengthen our governance approach.”

One NZ received full marks across a number of assessed areas including energy, greenhouse gas emissions, health and safety, employees and customers.

The result follows the validation of One NZ’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), with its near-term targets covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and ongoing reductions.
