Connecting Kiwis continues over the festive season with even more digital infrastructure

Vodafone NZ celebrates 46 cell site upgrades/builds in December 2021

Our technology teams had a busy end to 2021, finalising a whopping 46 cell site improvements in the final month of 2021, one of our highest number of upgrades for the year! As part of our regional investment program, this new digital infrastructure brings better coverage to customers across Aotearoa New Zealand. All of this work was undertaken whilst ensuring pour people, suppliers and public are safe by taking into account all relevant H&S practices.

This included six new Vodafone owned sites, 18 upgrades of existing Vodafone sites, and 22 new Rural Connectivity Group (RCG) sites.

Thaigan Govender, Head of Mobile Access Networks, was super pleased with the work his team put in at the end of last year, to get Kiwis all set up to enjoy the summer.

"I'm proud of the work we've undertaken to create a more connected Aotearoa as we head into 2022. Most of us are back at work now, but our mission to better connect New Zealand continues, and we want customers to be able to enjoy our world-class network, whether they're working from home, their worksite, or baches around the country. We're now busy working on even more upgrades to come in 2022."
