Kia ora Wynyard Quarter, One NZ is here

New Auckland support office is all about connection, innovation and sustainability

One New Zealand has officially opened its new Auckland Support Office at 30 Daldy Street, Wynyard Quarter, as a modern workplace that embodies connection, innovation, and sustainability.

The welcome to the new office began with a dawn pōwhiri and blessing led by local iwi Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei as tangata whenua, to mark the start of a new chapter for the company.

Positioned in the heart of Wynyard Quarter, the new office places One NZ alongside many of its partners and customers – fostering easier collaboration and innovation. The space includes open, flexible areas for teamwork, focus zones for quiet work, and inviting social spaces that bring people together. A central feature for One NZ employees is the café with sweeping views of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, a place where people can connect over kai and enjoy the best of Tāmaki Makaurau.

“We’re delighted to be moving into a space that reflects who we are and what we’re about,” says Jodie King, Chief People Officer at One NZ. “This new office isn’t just about location – it’s about creating a place where our people can thrive and connect with each other, our customers and partners.”

Built for connection

Designed alongside Stack Interiors, the new state-of-the-art workplace brings connection and innovation to life through its design. Across three floors, there are 45 meeting rooms of varying styles – from hybrid-enabled rooms and lounge settings to learning spaces. Employees can choose from bookable desks, quiet zones, touchdown points, and bump spaces between meetings, plus One Zone, a dedicated games and social space which includes a place to watch the mighty One NZ Warriors.

Among the most striking features of the new office is One NZ’s Network Operations Centre (NOC). This is the team and technology that monitors One NZ’s services 24/7, for example mobile sites and broadband performance, to maintain connectivity for customers or respond swiftly when digital infrastructure is interrupted, for example during a major weather event. When asked what they wanted their new environment to feel like, the NOC team imagined a futuristic command centre that celebrates their role in keeping New Zealand connected – and so this space is inspired by Starship Enterprise.

This state-of-the-art facility sits at the heart of One NZ’s purpose to create a better-connected Aotearoa New Zealand, reflecting the company’s ambition to build NZ’s most secure and reliable network. Designed for both functionality and inspiration, the NOC brings together people, technology, and real-time insights in one dynamic space.

Māori identity has been woven throughout the office and building design. To link to One NZ’s Māori strategy, Whārikihia, the boardroom tabletop is inspired by the traditional whāriki plaiting technique, which involves threads crossing each other diagonally rather than at right angles as done in weaving. On Level 6, the company’s top floor, feature-LED lighting represents the night sky and Matariki constellation.

Key meeting rooms carry gifted names from Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei such as Ngā Wai (The Waters) and the café connection space, Hora Nui (The Great Abundance), representing connection to place and the natural environment.

The furnishings and aesthetic are also inspired by the rich natural beauty of Aotearoa, celebrating its unique flora, fauna and landscapes throughout the space.

A greener place to work

This move aligns with One NZ’s wider sustainability strategy, demonstrating its commitment to a better-connected, low-carbon future.

The new building is targeting a 6 Green Star design rating and a Platinum WELL certification, setting a new standard for workplace sustainability in Aotearoa.

The building’s performance will be tracked using NABERSNZ, targeting a 5-star energy efficiency rating, with solar panels and smart energy monitoring to reduce energy use. Other features include rainwater harvesting and EV/bike charging stations in addition to 197 bike parks, complemented by sophisticated end-of-trip facilities to encourage sustainable commuting.

Developer Mansons has made a commitment to offset 120% of construction emissions, plus plant a native tree for every square metre of office space.

Bringing One NZ’s new brand to life

The company moved to Auckland’s North Shore in 2018 as Vodafone NZ. Now, seven years on, and with a refreshed brand identity, the One NZ team has returned to the Auckland city and to a workspace designed to bring people together and enable the future of work.

Approximately 1,200 staff are based out of the Auckland Support Office, with the company embracing a flexible work policy of spending at least three days in the office, with different teams having alternating ‘connection days’.

The new office is around 60% of the size of the company’s previous premises, with hot-desking to encourage a more efficient use of space.

The move to Wynyard Quarter is more than a change of address – it’s a tangible expression of One NZ’s purpose, a ‘better-connected Aotearoa New Zealand’, and brand promise, “Let’s Get Connected.”
