Celebrating volunteers across Tāmaki Makaurau

With a strong alignment on community, connection and communication, Vodafone New Zealand and Aktive are thrilled to announce a new partnership focused on the awesome sport and recreation volunteers across Tāmaki Makaurau.

Research shows that volunteers in sport and recreation make up the largest proportion of volunteers across all sectors, and we understand the importance of individuals who generously give up their free time to help others. In Auckland, there are over 300,000 volunteers contributing over 22 million hours of their personal time, with an estimated $337 million of value to the economy.

Community contribution, fun, enjoyment and making social connections are described as key motivations for volunteers. That’s why Aktive and Vodafone NZ are coming together to celebrate volunteers across Auckland, recognise their generous contribution and help grow interest and enthusiasm for new volunteers to come onboard. It’s a kaupapa that energises both organisations!

Jennah Wootten, CE, Aktive says: “There simply is no sport without volunteers so we want to make sure that all volunteers feel valued, connected and supported across Auckland. We’re excited to work with Vodafone New Zealand to ensure these generous heroes of our community are acknowledged and know how much they are appreciated.”

Vodafone NZ is committed to building a more awesome Aotearoa through amazing technology, to connect New Zealanders with the people and things they love. Joe Goddard, Vodafone NZ’s Experience & Commercial Director is proud to be supporting Aktive: “The incredible work that volunteers undertake is essential to the health and wellbeing of our rangatahi. By connecting with well supported volunteers, we hope to build a more awesome Aotearoa where every young person gets to experience the joys of sport.”

To ensure volunteers are recognised and celebrated right across Auckland, the partnership will also involve CLM Community Sport, Harbour Sport, Sport Auckland and Sport Waitākere which is particularly special.

Vodafone NZ and Aktive have a lot in the works so stay tuned! We look forward to keeping you updated on how this partnership can support and benefit your volunteers.
