Kiwi locals given a chance to star in New Zealand’s first crowdsourced weather report

MEDIA RELEASE - Kiwis are well known for discussing the weather, and from today, Vodafone is giving New Zealanders the chance to share and star in their own weather reports nationwide.

Vodafone New Zealand’s sponsorship of ONE News Weather provides Kiwi locals an opportunity to star in a 15-second television commercial that will screen prior to weekday weather segments during the 6pm programme.

The 1 Second Weather campaign – also referred to as #1secondweather - gives Kiwis a chance to showcase their slice of New Zealand to a nationwide audience. ‘Weather-readers’ are asked to take a short video describing the conditions in their location and upload the video over Vodafone’s leading mobile network.

Matt Williams, Consumer Director at Vodafone New Zealand, says “Vodafone’s network reaches 97.5 per cent of where Kiwis live, work and play, so there really are no excuses to show off the weather where you are. Grab a sibling, partner or friend to join in your chance for a moment on the big screen.

Kiwis can submit their video via Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #1SecondWeather and # their location. Six videos will be selected and edited into one-second clips to screen during a 15-second commercial every weekday.

For more information on uploading a video, visit www.1SecondWeather.co.nz.
